Round table on social responsibility in advertising

Moderator: Nastja Mulej

Guidelines for the debate:

- the number of inapropriate, insulting advertisments is increasing; often, those ads seek to draw the attention with imoral messages

- there's a lack of inventive, balanced advertising aproaches that would include interdisciplinary findings and solutions

- the budget for staff is lowering (as oposed to the budget for paying the leadership) which leads to a lower quality of products (ads)

- the market is overflooded - would it be possible to advertise less, but more efectively, also taking into consideration social responsibility?

The purpose of the round table is to initialize a debate about social responsibility in general, in advertising and in all other means of visual communication. We'll talk about "good" and "bad" forms of visual communication and try to define how to prevent that the story of Sao Paulo doesn't repeat in other parts of the world (the "Clean City Law" policy has been implemented in Sao Paulo where almost all outdoor signage, public transportation and video screens have be removed in an effort to reduce the amount of "visual pollution").

Guests of the round table:

- Vanja Hamzić
- Jonathan Barnbrook
- Zdravko Papič
