Doodlearth is an illustrated internet community, started by Squint/opera, Serge Seidlitz & Debut Art, combining cutting edge technology with most simpe way of creating - hand-drawing - to create a virtual environment which invites people to draw, ad or upload images (hand drawn, digital, collage….) of their own city.

Phase one of the project was to create a cityscape animation. 19 artists were invited to submit illustrated elements that make a city. These elements were then combined into a 40-minute animation which is projected onto a screen or a blank wall and people - visitors, guests and bystanders - are invited to ad to the animated city by drawing their own images onto the projection. The entire process of malking up a city if filmed and used as a basis for the next session of Doodlearth.

We are interested in the happy mistakes and the unplanned.
We are interested in people’s interpretations of their environment.
We want the different illustrative styles to appear next to each other, to reflect
the multitude of architectural styles in a city.
