Maja Šivec was born in Slovenj Gradec, now lives and creates in Maribor. In 2001 she finished Faculty for economic sciences but after graduation she dedicated completely to creative photography. For a longer period of time she worked at PhotoClub Maribor, where she is an active member since the year 2000. She gained a big part of her photographic knowledge from photographer Bogomir Čerin and PhotoClub Maribor. She participates in different photo seminars, classes, workshops and colonies. Independently and in groups she exhibits in Slovenia and abroad and for creativity in the field of photography she received many acknowledgments and awards. Her last award was at the 68th international salon in Japan and golden FIAP medal for the collection of photographs "Mothers to be" in the 32nd Zagreb salon.
